Enter the Volkswagen Group UK 'Future of Automotive' competition for 18 - 25 year olds.

Details of the competition:

To enter the competition you need to

Volkswagen Group UK employ around 900 permenant employees, supporting a network of more than 600 retailers. These retailers are run independently through our franchised partners; it is our job at Head Office to support them through all aspects of vehicle sales to ensure a sustainable and profitable network.

Your task is to analyse how customers currently purchase vehicles and other goods outside of the automotive industry. Using this research, you should make recommendations as to how we can futureproof customer experience to suit new and ever-changing customer expectations.


  • The best entrants will be invited to spend the day at VW Headquarters to present their ideas to a team of Volkswagen Group managers.
  • There will be one overall winner and two runners up:
  • 1st Prize: Apple Macbook Pro
    1st Runner Up: Apple iPad
    2nd Runner Up: Apple iPad
  • as well as the opportunity to gain work experience with the worlds largest automotive company

Entry requirements:

Your entry should be 1200 words at a minimum and no more than 4000. This can be submitted in any format you like - whether that is a presentation, an essay, or a visual report. If you choose to submit your entry in a presentation format, please include supporting commentary.

Terms and conditions:

  1. 1. The competition is open to all United Kingdom residents aged 18-25 year olds (Entrants must be over the age of 18 on or before 1st August 2018 and no older than the age of 25 on the competition close date. Only one entry per person.
  2. Entries must be submitted via email to by the 1st August 2018.
  3. Competition not open to employees of Volkswagen Group United Kingdom Limited, their agents or contractors, and anyone else connected with the promotion [save that employees of independently franchised Volkswagen Group retailers may participate in the competition].
  4. All competition entries will be reviewed by a panel of Volkswagen Group UK judges and up to 10 will be shortlisted to come and present their project. There will then be one winner chosen for the overall prize. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the end of August 2018. All entrants shall be assessed in accordance with the conditions and criteria contained within the competition brief, a copy of which can be assessed after submitting your details.
  5. Entrants must ensure their entry is an original work created solely by the entrant and does not include any content, material or rights owned by any third party.
  6. By submitting their entry, an entrant assigns all rights in and to intellectual property contained within their entry and in whatever form, including but not limited to within any: idea; concept; invention; improvement; text; design or image and the entrant shall provide the Promoter with all reasonable assistance to effect the proper assignment of such rights and intellectual property.7. The prize for the winner is an Apple MacBook Pro with two runners up receiving an Apple iPad. There will also be the opportunity for Work Experience for the winning candidate subject to availability.
  7. Winning entrant will be required to produce a valid form of government issued ID on request by the Promoter.
  8. The Promoter’s decision is final.
  9. Entries that are not submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions and/or that are delayed, damaged, incomplete, altered, illegible or otherwise defective will be disqualified.
  10. The prize is non-transferable and non-refundable.
  11. There is no cash alternative.
  12. The Promoter reserves its right to substitute any prize with a prize of equivalent value in the event of circumstances outside of its control.
  13. The Promoter reserves its right (but is not obliged) to substitute any Prize for a prize of equivalent or greater value in the event of circumstances that make this necessary.
  14. The Promoter reserves the right to alter, amend, foreclose or withdraw the promotion and/or the terms and conditions of entry at any time and without prior notice.
  15. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant[s] it believes not to be participating within the spirit of the promotion or suspects of participating in any unfair or unjust behaviour. The Promoter reserves the right to use its discretion in all respects and to enforce any penalty or sanction it deems appropriate.
  16. The winner may be required to take part in non-paid publicity or advertising relating to the competition, which may include having their photograph taken for promotional or press purposes.
  17. The Promoter reserves the right to feature the name, photograph and location of the prize winner and their guests (if applicable) in any future marketing materials, website publications, promotions and/or prize draws.
  18. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost or delayed or rendered invalid due to incorrect participant data, lack of network coverage, system, software or hardware failure or for any other reason beyond its control.
  19. Entrants will also need to provide a valid email address and contact telephone number (these details shall only be used to contact entrants with information relating directly to the competition and to contact the winners, such information shall be destroyed by the Promoter after a reasonable period).
  20. If at any time you wish to withdraw from the prize draw your request should be made in writing to the Promoter.
  21. If there is a conflict in the terms conditions to this prize draw with any other terms whatsoever attached to any other advertising material in respect of this draw, these conditions will apply.

  23. The competition and these terms and conditions (including any non-contractual disputes or claims arising out of them) are subject to English law and any disputes or claims must be referred to the English courts.

Privacy Policy:

  1. Your personal data will be held by Volkswagen Group United Kingdom Limited (the "Promoter") and used only for the purpose of administering the competition in accordance with the competition Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions are the legal basis for the Promoter's processing. If you do not provide your personal data, the Promote cannot process your competition entry and cannot notify you if you are successful.
  2. If you are not successful in winning the competition, the Promoter will delete your information promptly after the prizes have been awarded and distributed. If you are successful, then the Promoter will delete your information after administration of prizes and related activities.
  3. The Promoter will not disclose or share your information with any third party other than those who are engaged by the Promoter to administer the competition. Your information may be sent to countries outside of the European Economic Area where the Promoter's (or its third parties') processing equipment is located in another country but the Promoter ensures that any transfer happens in accordance with the law.
  4. Entrants have various rights with regard to their personal data which the Promoter holds about them:

    (a) a right to request a copy of that information;
    (b) a right to require that the Promoter erases your information (but note that this will automatically remove your entry from the competition); and
    (c) a right to amend your information.

    To exercise any of these rights, please write to the Legal Department, Volkswagen Group United Kingdom Limited, Yeomans Drive, Blakelands, Milton Keynes, MK14 5AN. You will need to make your request in writing, specifying the action that you want the Promoter to take and enclose proof of your identity.
